Die britische Organisation 3FF ist eine der führenden interkulturellen und interreligiösen Organisationen in Europa und bringt vor allen Schülern und Schülerinnen  das Anderssein vor Augen.  Darunter auch jüdisch – muslimische Zusammenführungen.  Ich habe 3FF in ihrem Londoner Hauptquartier für die Jüdische Allgemeine besucht.

ENGLISH: The British organisation 3FF is one of the leading groups in Europe that facilitates encounter with others for especially school children.  Amongst these are also Jewish – Muslim meetings.  I visited 3FF’s London HQ for the ‘Juedische Allgemeine.’

Das erste mal traf ich auf 3FF bei einen interreligiösen Seminar.  Stephen Shashoua arbeitete damals noch als Koordinator und ich war Presse und Erziehungsbeauftragter der British Friends von Neve Shalom ~ Wahat al Salam, dem jüdisch, palästinensischen Friedensdorf.  EIn paar Jahre später wurden ich und ein paar Kollegen von 3FF eingeladen ihnen die Konfliktarbeit zwischen Palästinensern und Juden zu erklären.

Über die Jahre ist 3FF von einer eher textlich fokussierten Organisation, die Ähnlichkeiten zwischen den Glauben Abrahams suchte, zu einer Organisation herangewachsen, die alle Verschiedenheiten vermitteln will und kann.  Dabei reden sie heute offen über die Unterschiede und wie man mit ihnen leben kann.

ENGLISH: I first came across 3FF at an interfaith meeting and met the then director Stephen Shashoua. He was then just coordinator and I was working as a press and education officer for the British Friends of Neve Shalom ~ Wahat al Salam.  (Listen to an audio feature of mine abiut the School for Peace) Years later 3FF became interested in the way the School of Peace facilitates encounters between Jews and Palestinians and invited me along with colleagues for a talk. 

3FF has certainly matured over the years.  Starting from a biblical and textual workshop that focused on similarities, it now can handle any type of encounter it gets challenged with, and moreso focuses on understanding and accepting differences.

School for Peace in Oasis of Peace wins best file of the day listing on Audiofarm

With great and humble gratitude I am pleased to learn that my feature School for Peace in Oasis of Peace was listed best new audio file to listen to on 30 May 2009 by the people at Audiofarm. (Audiofarm   was  something like a youtube for audio files). It hosts countless numbers of audio files, with many added daily.Tanks to the British Friends of Neve Shalom ~ Wahat al Salam and the all at the School for Peace in the village.

Dr. Nava Sonnenschein is one of the bones behind the conflict facilitation centre School for Peace at Wahat al Salam ~ Neve Shalom. She not only founded it together with others but has conducted serious research into the work they are doing, resulting in several publications, most recently Dialogue Challenging Identity: Jews Constructing their Identify through Encounter with Palestinians (Pardes, Haifa 2008), which is so far only available in Hebrew. Here she explains in depth why the School for Peace at Wahat al Salam ~ Neve Shalom is a unique place for encounter work between Jews and Palestinians.

School for Peace in Oasis of Peace. A feature about conflict facilitation between Jews and Palestinians in Wahat al Salam ~ Neve Shalom

This 30 feature radio documentary was produced on behalf of the British Friends of Neve Shalom ~ Wahat al Salam. It documents the work of the School for Peace, the famous encounter centre that allows Jews and Palestinians to meet and discuss the conflict between them. 30min.

Synopsis: Wahat al Salam ~ Neve Shalom is a peace village, on the Israeli side of former no-mans land dividing Israel and Jordan prior to 1967, in which Palestinians and Jews live together for over 30 years. It houses amongst others one of the most remarkable conflict transformation and encounter centres in the world, the School for Peace. Daniel Zylbersztajn went to visit the centre and spoke with some of its key people, as well as some of the persons currently going through the encounter process.
